With everything that has happened over the last 18 months, the role of a nurse has come even more into the focus of many. They have been able to see what an important job it is and how rewarding it can be. Although it is rewarding to be able to see how you have helped someone, unfortunately it is a role that is often under paid and underappreciated.
If you are considering becoming a nurse then you will need to think about what part of nursing you want to go in to. You may choose to go in to midwifery for example or in the paediatric department. As with many professions within the medical industry, you may have to work long shifts during various times of the day. This may not be suitable to your current lifestyle if you have young children, so it may be something that you choose to do later in life.
It is important to understand exactly what your job entails. There is paperwork that needs to be completed and you need to be able the right people skills to work with people of all different backgrounds and level of understanding. You will also need to be organised and be able to think quickly in stressful situations.
